On Sunday June 17, Wildwood hosted an alumni event that honored Dave "Chief" Miner, who was the director of Wildwood from the 1950's through the 1970's. Past campers and staff came from as far away as North Carolina to pay tribute to Chief, and remember the good times at Wildwood all those years ago.
The 2007 Wildwood staff was also on hand, and mingled with the alumni to share stories and learn about the games and songs from decades ago - some of which are still used today!
It was an enjoyable day of reunion and good fun, and following a tour of the Wildwood camp, everyone gathered as Chief unveiled the new staff retreat, named "Miner Lodge", as a reflection of all his work and strong committment to his staff throughout the years.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the Wildwood of yesterday to meet the Wildwood of today. We look forward to more alumni events in the future, so if you know anyone who was a Wildwood camper or staff member, please have them contact the Wildwood office at 866-MAS-CAMP so they can get onto our mailing list.
