Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary Volunteers

Even in the off-season, the Felix Neck community rallied to Work for Wildlife during the Statewide Volunteer Day. Ten volunteers and five staff toiled to reclaim and renew the Butterfly Garden and build benches for our camp and summer program area.

The spring azure and mourning cloak butterflies also made an appearance on this sunny day, while we weeded, constructed, hauled compost, and pulled bittersweet. Only the turtles were impatient as they waited until we finished our work for their fresh lunch of newly dug worms. A barbeque celebration with donated organic hot dogs and burgers fed the Felix Neck worker bees.
