Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary Volunteers

A bright, beautiful, and breezy day in Marshfield welcomed an enthusiastic cadre of 35 volunteers from as far away as New Hampshire, who came to pitch in and lend a hand at the Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary. This industrious group did a fantastic job and spread over four yards of bark mulch while beautifying the bird garden, erected 36 sections of split rail fence by leveling and laying posts, trimmed back brush along the edge of a 1/2 mile of boardwalk, and checked and hammered nails on 2,600 feet of boardwalk (using 31,200 nails)! A relaxing and informative hayride through the sanctuary was a great way to end a day of hard work and effort.

Interesting wildlife sightings: American kestrel, purple martin, a red-shouldered hawk, and tree swallow.
